Thieves Strike Three Truck Dealers in B.C.

(Akron/Tire Review) Police in Langley, British Columbia, say that thieves broke into a Gloucester, B.C., truck dealer compound and stole $50,000 worth of tires and wheels – right off trucks.

The theft apparently occurred last weekend. Workers at Inland Kenworth arrived at work Apr. 3 to find more than 10 tractors up on blocks with the tires and wheels missing. A total of 46 assemblies, valued at about $1,000 each, were taken.

The thieves cut through a fence surrounding the compound. “There has been a rash of of these types of tires being stolen all over the Lower Mainland lately," Langley RCMP spokesperson Diane Blain told the Langley Times. "There is obviously a market for them."

Ironically, the Inland Kenworth location in Burnaby, B.C., was hit three weeks ago, with 41 tires, size 11R24.5, and wheels taken. Another dealer in the area also suffered a similar theft.

Surveillance footage from the Burnaby theft showed three men breaking through the fence, and it took just 45 minutes for them to steal the 41 tires and wheels.
