King Wheels Enters Its Second Year

(Queensland/Australian Tyre Dealer) After a little over 14 months, King Wheels Australia Pty. Ltd. results just get better and better.

Sales of its steel wheel ranges have surpassed all expectations, necessitating their relocation to a much larger warehouse facility.

When interviewed by Australian Tyre Dealer recently, Peter Weidemier said, “The larger premises enable us to more than double our stock holding, ensuring an even better supply source for our valued customers. As you know, we specialise in steel wheels and therefore our customers expect us to have the size and offset they want – when they want it. That’s our job.”

King Wheels was the first – and still possibly the only – company in the region to offer the market a 16×7 and 17×7 high offset steel wheel to suit the new 4WD Toyota Hilux, and a 17×8 for the latest Toyota Prado and Nissan Patrol. By May this year, they will have a 17×8 to suit the new Toyota Landcruiser 100 series and, by contrast, they even stock a chrome 16×8 to suit the Ford F250.

The trailer industry has welcomed the ongoing availability of the 14×6 Ford, HQ, HT and the 6 stud wheels for their trailers.

King Wheels now proudly boast of being one of, if not the main, steel wheel suppliers to the major tyre dealers in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania through their distributors Neta Tyre Service & Sales in Queensland,  B.G. Wheels in Victoria/Tasmania and their own King Wheels NSW division.

After the success of their steel wheels, some of the key accounts have been urging KW to look into the alloy market. “Whilst we have built our name and reputation with steel wheels, and still intend to specialise in this market, we must also be flexible and bend to customer pressure, offering  an alternative to our distributors and their key dealers,” Weidemier said.

“We don’t intend to carry every style, colour and creed but our research has shown us the most popular styles and innovations for this market. We intend to concentrate on a limited range of high quality alloys and at all times keep abreast of innovations, such as the carbon fibre wheel which we will introduce very soon in our 18- and 19-inch Rowdy style.”

Weidemier said King Wheels was excited about the additional direction and was very proud of its new alloy wheel range. “The new off shore (Taiwan) manufacturer was only selected after extensive investigations, with visits to five factories and three countries. If we put our King name on it, it has to be of uncompromised quality at a realistic price.”
