Matador’s High-Speed Offering

(Clacton, U.K./Tyres & Accessories) At this year's Essen show, Matador will be introducing its hp and uhp sales programme, with tyres from its existing range and a new tyre: the MP 43 Aquilla EVO.

This is a summer tyre with a directional tread pattern, aimed at high performance passenger cars. On show on the Matador stand will be the very popular size 205/55 R16 91W and 94V XL – this is the first of a range of sizes that are being developed in Matador’s R&D Centre and which will be on the market in time for Summer 2007.

Compared with its predecessor, the MP 41, the new tyre is quieter and offers longer mileage, without losing any of the characteristics that have made the MP 41 popular. The MP 43 Aquilla EVO also offers good wet performance, including aquaplaning resistance, and high speed directional stability.

The MP 41 was the first Matador high performance tyre and is still a best-seller, in H, V and W speed ratings for rims from 15 to 17 inches. This was followed in 2003 by the MP 42 Elite 2, which combined high-speed performance with high levels of comfort. It is produced in a wide range of sizes, with speed ratings from S up to W. The silica-based compound ensures low rolling resistance and improved fuel consumption.

Completing the Matador uhp range is the MP 45 Hectorra, available in W and Y speed ratings, aspect ratios from 55 series down to 30 series and for wheels from 16 to 20 inches. Its asymmetric tread pattern gives the tyre a sporty look, as well as contributing to good handling in the wet and on dry roads.
