Remington Tire Distributors acquires President Tire

(Akron/Tire Review) Quebec-based President Tire Canada has been acquired by Remington Tire Distributors Inc.

Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

The deal gives Remington, based in Sherwood Park, Alberta, President Tire’s 10 distribution centers and its network of some 200 franchised retail locations. Remington will have 30 warehouses across Canada as a result of the purchase.

The deal, however, did not include 16 company-owned President Auto Centre locations, though Remington said it “acquired certain assets from these locations.”

The franchised retail stores will retain the President Tire name, according to Remington.

"This acquisition strengthens Remington’s position as the leading wholesale tire distributor in Canada and increases our presence in Quebec and the Maritimes," said Remington President Ross Kelly. “We look forward to building on the strong base President Tire has established in the Canadian market and to delivering the high service levels and broad product selection that have long been hallmarks of Remington."
