ATD Buying Minnesota Wholesaler

(Akron/Tire Review) American Tire Distributors Inc. has agreed to purchase Minneapolis-based Samaritan Wholesale Tire Co., which covers eastern Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin.

Samaritan co-owner Jay Halvorson, will join ATD to help manage the Minneapolis operation.

"Samaritan is a premier tire distributor in their geographic area. They have built a solid business based on strong management, efficient operations, and, most importantly, an unwavering commitment to customer service," said ATD Chairman and CEO Dick Johnson. “Samaritan Tire, including its strong team of people, will be an excellent complement to our existing Midwest distribution centers in Sioux Falls, S.D., Des Moines, Iowa, and Lincoln, Neb.”

At one of its South Florida NTW distribution centers, as well as TBC Corp.'s Palm Beach Gardens corporate offices, TBC employees recently had the opportunity to show their children the ins and outs of the company's role in the tire industry during "Take Your Child to Work Day." The kids had a jam-packed day learning about tires, taking photos, doing media research, and even eating lunch with the company's new CEO, Don Byrd.
