Stars Help First Stop Dealers Raise Charity Cash

(Clacton, U.K./Tyres & Accessories) First Stop tyre dealers rubbed shoulders with stars from TV and radio to help raise more than ≤1,500 for impoverished African youngsters.

The owners of Tyrecraft, Bootle; Tyresave, St. Helens; Tyreworld, Widnes; Pemberton Tyres, Wigan; and Ashton Tyre & Exhaust, Ashton-in-Makerfield, were joined by Big Brother celebrities Nikki and Mikey, Coronation Street’s Richard Fleeshman and Radio 2 presenter Sally ‘Traffic’ Boazman at Truckfest North West, which attracted thousands of people to Haydock Park Racecourse on Sept. 16-17.

Also on the Bridgestone stand at the event was a stunning replica of the Ferrari Formula One racing car that guided Michael Schumacher to his last World Championship title.

Visitors had a chance to meet the stars and have their picture taken with the car in return for a small donation to the Zambia project, which provides education, accommodation and amenities for young people living in the Lusaka region of Zambia.

The dealers used the show to promote their businesses and raise awareness of Bridgestone’s “Think Before You Drive” road safety campaign.

“It was a fantastic weekend all round,” said Andy Bucknall, business development manager for Bridgestone UK. “The celebrities and F1 car proved a major draw in attracting people to the Bridgestone stand, and we’re delighted with the amount raised for the Zambia Project, which plays a vital role helping some of the world’s most needy youngsters."
