The tyre’s puncture resistance quality is provided by a sealant gel. This gel coats the inner surface of the tyre and enables pressure to be maintained following a puncture without the need for further maintenance.
In a country where roads can greatly vary in surface quality, puncture resistance is a particularly strong selling point, and TVS hopes to capitalise on this. "The country’s first puncture-resistant tubeless tyres for two wheelers have been designed specially for Indian roads where punctures are common,” said S. Balasubramanian, executive vice president of operations and marketing for TVS Tyres.
TVS Tyres produces around 11 million tyres per annum, of which about 1.5 million are exported. In its home market TVS Tyres is an original equipment supplier to numerous leading motorcycle and scooter manufacturers, including Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto and Yamaha Motors.
