A fire destroyed a tire store Friday morning in Concord, N.H., and caused black smoke that could be seen for miles, local media reports.
Witnesses told media they saw the fire start at Stratham Tire around 6 a.m., but fire investigators have not confirmed the time.
Concord firefighters, off-duty firefighters and firefighters from nearby towns tamed the fire after two hours, despite having lack of water issues.
The business was destroyed and the business’ manager said he estimates the business lost about 3,000 tires as well as all the mechanics’ tools, according to local media. The co-owners of Stratham Tire told media they are searching for jobs for their employees at their other locations while they rebuild.
Concord fire officials told media they do not believe anyone was inside, but no one was sent inside to search because the construction of the building’s roof was too dangerous and likely to collapse. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
