Goodyear Moving Luxembourg Tech Center

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has partnered with the Luxembourg government and IEE to build an “automotive campus” in Luxembourg where it will relocate its European tech center, Tyres & Accessories reports.

About 1,500 non-manufacturing Goodyear employees, including roughly 1,000 scientists, engineers and technicians from its innovation center, regional and global functions based in Luxembourg will be relocated to the Automotive Campus, T&A said. The entire location has the capacity to accommodate 4,000 people.

According to T&A, the campus will be built on the site of Goodyear’s former wire plant in Bissen, which the tiremaker will sell to the Luxembourg government.

“The creation of the Automotive Campus will foster business growth opportunities within the European automotive sector for Goodyear, its campus partners and the country of Luxembourg. As a founding partner and one of the first to locate a new facility at the Campus, Goodyear looks forward to collaborating with other progressive companies on the design, testing and incubation of new concepts,” Jean-Claude Kihn, president of Goodyear Europe, Middle-East and Africa, told T&A.

For about 70 years Goodyear has grown its facilities in Luxembourg to three plants, proving grounds, laboratories, distribution facility and a global innovation center.
