Bridgestone Corp. will open its first facility in Russia, located in the Ulyanovsk region, in the second half of 2016, Russian media reports.
The $147.7 million project will be built in cooperation with Mitsubishi Corporation and will create about 800 jobs.
A Bridgestone official told media the plant will produce 2 million tires annually at full production capacity by 2019 and has the capability to double production to 4 million tires.
Bridgestone currently has 155 plants in 27 countries.
