Southern Tire Mart has become the largest commercial tire dealer and truck tire retreader in North America, according to the Mississippi Business Journal.
The business ranked ninth in this Mississippi Business Journal’s “Mississippi 100” –a ranking of the largest private companies in Mississippi that is based on annual revenue.
Southern Tire Mart is part of a $2 billion business conglomerate, according to the MBJ.
The company’s founders and brothers Thomas and James Duff started the company in 1973 and expanded to 72 locations from Florida to Nevada, with $820 million in annual sales.
The brothers further expanded their business with the acquisition of eight other businesses. Southern Tire Mart’s parent company, Duff Capital Investors, covers 10 companies with more than 9,000 employees across the U.S. Four of the companies ranked in the top 50 of the Mississippi 100 and two ranked in the top 10.
