Tire Shop Murder Suspects Found in Mexico

Three men sought in the April firebombing and murder at a South El Monte, Calif., tire dealership were found hiding in Mexico earlier this week.

The men – German Monrreal, age 19; Mario Godina, 19; and Estevan Castillo, 20 – were arrested and moved to Los Angeles, and are being held in jail without bail, according to reports.

Los Angeles sheriff’s detectives received a tip that the three men were hiding in a house in Guadalajara. Mexican police and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force raided the home on July 25 and took the three into custody without incident.

The Los Angeles district attorney has charged each man with three counts of murder and one count each of arson, causing bodily harm and using an explosive device to injure.

A fourth suspect, Roberto Fuentes, 19, was arrested and charged shortly after the firebombing, which took place at Cheque Tires. Police said the four suspects threw Molotov cocktails at the tire shop after attending a party there. They fled in a 2002 Nissan Altima belonging to Fuentes’ mother, according to reports.

Killed in the fire were Carlos Jimenez, 17; Rodrigo Gonzalez, 17; and Destiny Aguirre, 18. Aguirre reportedly was a single mother with two small children.

Video surveillance released by the sheriff’s department shows the four suspects and a fifth unknown individual walking down the sidewalk of an unknown street.
