Trailer net orders are up 52% year over year, according data by the ACT Research Co. ACT’s most study – State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers- found that the industry booked 22,300 net orders for May.
“Backlog, build, inventory and shipments were all off from April, but the changes were minimal, all less than 1% on a month over month basis. This stability provides a solid foundation for the industry as we move into the summer and fall build season,” said Frank Maly, director of CV transportation analysis and research at ACT.
Maly noted production rates should remain relatively unchanged during the next few months. Additionally he said the orderboard should continue to support the industry to the next order season this coming fall.
