Steve Handschuh has been named president and CEO of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), effective Oct. 1. Starting the same day, current president and CEO Bob McKenna will serve as president emeritus of MEMA until his retirement in January.
“I am honored to have been chosen to lead MEMA,” said Handschuh. “MEMA and its market segment associations, the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association, the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association, the Motor & Equipment Remanufacturers Association and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association have roots that stretch back nearly 110 years and have become the voice for the motor vehicle supplier industry. I look forward to continuing to work with these extraordinary members and a competent and dedicated staff committed to excellence.”
As president and CEO, Handschuh will direct the operations of the association, as well as its Washington, D.C. office and its market segment associations.
Handschuh has worked in the aftermarket automotive industry for more than 25 years. Previously he worked at NAPA Auto Parts/Genuine Parts Co., AutoZone and Mighty Auto Parts.
