Agricultural machinery maker AGCO has signed a four-year agreement with Mitas to supply Continental- and Mitas-branded farm tires to Fendt, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Challenger and Laverda brand tractors and combines for its plants in Germany, Finland, France and Italy starting this year.
"This is an extension of an existing agreement," said Andrew Mabin, Mitas’ marketing and sales director. Mitas has been supplying Fendt tractors with tires since 2004, when Mitas acquired the Continental farm tire manufacturing division.
The contract extension comes after AGCO awarded its highest supplier rating to Mitas for deliveries of farm tires in 2012. The award pertains to quality, logistics, customer service and protection of the environment, for all of which Mitas said it received the highest grade. The tiremaker has received the overall “A” grade annually since 2004.
“Mitas’ core business is agricultural and industrial tires,” Mabin said. “This allows Mitas to pay close attention to detail and reliability.”
Mitas sales to AGCO increased 10% in 2012 compared to 2011.
“In 2012, Mitas achieved sales exceeding all its historic business results,” Mabin added. “Mitas’ total sales in 2012 were 449 million euros.”
