Michelin North America’s Uniroyal Soccer Ball Design Contest attracted thousands of entries from across the country, with the winning design becoming the "look" for the brand’s annual soccer ball giveaway program.
Taking top honors with the best design for the first contest was 14-year-old Garron Garcia, from Broken Arrow, Okla. His orange and black tiger pattern design will be featured on the 2011 Uniroyal soccer balls. In addition, Garcia received a set of Uniroyal tires, a check for $1,000, an Apple iPad, a FIFA World Cup soccer jersey, a $1,000 Visa gift card to local attractions near the winner’s home, a $500 car service gift certificate and a $100 gift certificate to a sporting goods store.
“The Uniroyal Soccer Ball Design Challenge was a way to add another level of excitement to the program,” said Ashley Ramos, Uniroyal communications manager. “The ball is such a key part of the program, we wanted to give soccer fans and players the opportunity to help us shape this integral component.”
