Wabco Holdings Inc. has launched the IVTM system, the company’s latest tire pressure monitoring technology for commercial trucks.
Wabco’s new IVTM system, together with its TrailerGuard telematics, provides drivers and fleet operators with real-time pressure information. It helps maintain tire inflation at optimum level and, as a result, reduces fuel consumption by up to 2%, the company claimed.
"Wabco’s latest breakthrough technology for pressure monitoring is the industry’s only tire information system of its kind," said Jean-Christophe Figueroa, vice president of Wabco Vehicle Control Systems. "Our unique IVTM system continues Wabco’s technology leadership in electronic tire pressure monitoring for trucks, trailers and buses in every region of the world.”
The IVTM system consists of external wheel-mounted sensors that constantly measure tire pressure and wirelessly transmit data to an electronic control unit, which in turn displays real-time information and appropriate alerts on the truck’s dash-mounted display. With Wabco’s TrailerGuard telematics, fleet managers can remotely monitor every vehicle’s tire pressure via a web portal.
WABCO introduced its IVTM system as the commercial vehicle industry’s first tire monitoring system in 2003 in partnership with Michelin.
