Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas announced late in the day last Friday that it was recalling nearly 5,000 Toyo and Nitto brand tires due to a rubber compounding issue.
The company is voluntarily recalling a total of 4,891 tires, though apparently only 588 actually had the out-of-spec rubber.
Included in the recall are Toyo Versado CUV, Toyo Versado LX II, Toyo Open Country A/T, Toyo Tourevo LS II and Nitto Terra Grappler tires distributed in the U.S., carrying the numbers “3810” or “3910” at the end of the DOT code.
The tires, produced at Toyo’s plant in Sendai, Japan, will be replaced free of charge.
