Talks have already begun between Goodyear and the USW on a new labor contract at its six tire plants.
Also on deck for new labor pacts are Bridgestone Americas and Michelin North America’s plant in Tuscaloosa, Ala., which also expire this summer.
Goodyear and the Steelworkers met in Cincinnati on April 22; the current three-year contract expires on July 27. “Negotiations are progressing positively,” Goodyear said in a statement. “Goodyear and the USW have exchanged a few beginning proposals and both sides have decided to work in their respective locations to review the details of the proposals with their actuaries. In-person negotiations will resume, in Cincinnati, in early June.”
