A tire dealer and her son have been charged in connection with several thefts of winter tires and wheels valued at roughly $50,000 from car dealerships in the Oshawa, Ontario, area.
According to local reports, 43-year-old Sheila Stephens and 24-year-old Tyler Stephens have been charged with three counts of breaking and entering and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
On Aug. 5, the pair reportedly stole more than $15,000 worth of tires and wheels from a Ford dealership in nearby Port Perry Township. That theft was connected to two others: winter tires and wheels worth $18,000 that were stolen from a Toyota dealership in Coburg on July 30; and winter tires and wheels worth $15,000 that were taken from a Ford dealership in Stouffville less than a week later.
The stolen wheels and tires were then taken to a tire shop in Oshawa to be sold.
