The elected position is a three-year term, and Dedo will be replacing Richard Schaum, who will serve as the 2007 SAE International president.
Dedo, who is president of Timken Co.’s Automotive Group, will be responsible for providing leadership and continuity for SAE International’s automotive initiative and integrating the needs of automotive vehicles across SAE International’s programs for standards, events, and educational programs. SAE International also elects vice presidents for its aerospace and commercial vehicle sectors.
Dedo serves on the boards of directors for several organizations, including the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA), Kettering University, The New Detroit Science Center and the nonprofit Convergence Transportation Electronics Association (CTEA).
She holds a bachelor’s degree of science in electrical engineering from Kettering University, formerly known as General Motors Institute, in Flint, Mich.
