TIA Foundation Drive Nets Another Contributor

Kumho Tire USA is the latest tiremaker to add financial support for the Tire Industry Association Foundation Fundraising Drive.

Funds from the Foundation have financed the development of a number of important training initiatives, including TIA’s successful Automotive Tire Service and Commercial Tire Service programs, and the new Farm Tire Service (FTS) training that will be released next year.

Thus far for 2012, seven tire and/or retreading companies have committed to funding the Foundation: Bridgestone Americas, Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.,
Michelin North America, Yokohama Tire Corp. and Marangoni Tread North America.

Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training, describes the TIA Foundation as, “the life-blood for technician training and certification. Without the Foundation resources, we would not have the funding to update and translate existing programs or develop new ones. In the last five years, the Foundation has invested $772,000 in program development and we plan to spend at least another $300,000 over the next three years on the new FTS and Industrial Tire Service programs.”

Companies or individuals interested in making a tax-deductible donation to the TIA Foundation can do so by sending a check (payable to “TIA Foundation”) to: TIA Foundation, 1532 Pointer Ridge Place, Suite G, Bowie, MD 20716.
