Orangeville, Ontario-based Tire Discounter Group Inc. acquired Markham, Ontario-based based YKW Motorsports Canada.

YKW Motorsports Canada is a factory-direct importer and distributor of TUV European-certified alloy wheels, and the deal gives TDG three exclusive premium wheel lines, including the Euro-Klasse brand.

“We are very excited about the acquisition of YKW Canada,” said Richard Bender, TDG vice president of business operations. “It provides us with direct access to factory production in Malaysia and Thailand, which in turn will allow our dealers a stronger product offering to their customers. We view the tire and alloy wheel relationship very much as a ‘peanut butter and jam scenario’ especially given the continued demand for winter tire and wheel packages as well as a continuing passion by customers to individualize their vehicles.”

During the transition, YKW will operate out of Tire Discounter’s recently opened GTA Distribution Center in Markham. YKW wheel products will be available from all TDG warehouses in Orangeville, Barrie, Hamilton and Markham, with private TDG branded distributors in North Bay and Sudbury.
