A combined investigation between the Statesville, N.C., police department and the Iredell County, N.C., sheriff’s office led to the recovery of more than 100 stolen tractor trailer tires and rims, valued at approximately $75,000.
The investigation began last week when Kontane Logistics reported a break-in and theft of 126 truck tires and rims.
Statesville Police Chief Tom Anderson said video surveillance from the business showed the suspects entering through a secured gate in a pickup truck, pulling a large trailer. A Freightliner truck, which had a 53-ft. Salem Carriers trailer attached, was removed by one of the suspects while the second followed in the pickup truck.
On Sept. 30, the sheriff’s office received a tip about the location of the stolen tires and rims, Anderson said. That led to the recovery of 41 of the stolen tires. On Oct. 1, deputies found the stolen truck and trailer and recovered the remaining 85 truck tires and rims.
The investigation is continuing and local sources report that no arrests have been made at the time of publication.
