Apollo Tyres reports that its South African Dunlop brand has emerged as the country’s number one tire brand in an independent survey.
The iconic brands survey, conducted by TGI South Africa and commissioned by the Afrikaans language newspaper Rapport and English language paper City Press, measured the usage of more than 8,000 brands within 19 different product categories.
Information for this third national brand survey carried out by TGI in South Africa was obtained by conducting more than 15,000 face-to-face interviews with residents living in towns with more than 8,000 residents. The research did not focus on awareness or preference, rather it aimed to identify which brands consumers were most willing to spend their money on.
“This is a proud moment for the Apollo Tyres South Africa team,” commented CEO Luis Ceneviz. “We were the first tire manufacturer to set up a facility in South Africa and this shows us the level of faith and trust South African consumers have in us. A brand is only as good as its product’s performance and the support and service provided by the manufacturer. We have always been committed to delivering only the best to its customers be it through touch points like the Dunlop Zones or investments in R&D to ensure that tires on which our customers ride are truly world class.”
Apollo Tyres acquired Dunlop Tyre International in 2006, and since that time $30 million has been invested in expanding and upgrading technology at the company’s facilities in Durban and Ladysmith. (Tyres & Accessories)
