An early morning robbery of a North Las Vegas tire dealership yesterday left an employee dead and another man injured.
The store employee was shot and killed in the apparent botched robbery. Police reports say that two Hispanic men entered the store at 6 a.m. brandishing guns, and forced the two men into the store restroom where the robber attempted to tie them up.
Apparently, police say, there was a struggle that resulted in the shooting.
The would-be robbers escaped empty handed and Las Vegas police are still looking for the pair, described as being in their early 20s.
The dealership Llantera del Norte remained open for business after the shooting, leaving many of the employees disturbed. According to reports, the tire shop remains open 24 hours a day.
Las Vegas police say they think the robbers intended to not only take money but also clear out tires, wheels and other items from the store.
Media reports say the store manager said he is looking at possibly getting surveillance cameras or changing to normal daytime business hours.
