Fire struck the Vespia Tire Centers location in Toms River, N.J., yesterday.
Initial reports said the fire had a "large scale response" from emergency workers in the area, including at least two fire departments and a hazard materials team. Part of the response was due to unseasonably hot temperatures, which raised the possibility of firefighters suffering from heat exhaustion.
No injuries were reported, but the extent of the damage to the store and an adjacent dry cleaner outlet were unknown.
The store is one of 24 Vespia retail tire outlets that were sold to Monro Muffler Brake, in a $36 million deal that was supposed to close on June 5.
