Positive Feedback for Automechanika Malaysia

The organiser of the Automechanika Malaysia exhibition has reported on the success of this year’s show.

Messe Frankfurt states that the exhibition, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre between Mar. 25-28, attracted 133 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, plus 4,521 visitors. The top five visitor countries and regions outside Malaysia were Singapore, China, Thailand, South Korea and Egypt.

Receiving official recognition can substantially boost a show’s standing, and Messe Frankfurt comments that the Malaysian government “understands the needs of having an automotive parts and aftermarket trade fair to boost the industry.” Malaysia Deputy Minister of International Trade & Industry YB Dato’ Jacob Dungau Sagan officially opened Automechanika Malaysia. He is quoted as saying: “I am happy to note that Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong proceeded with this event although the automobile industry is experiencing a bumpy ride.”

Support also came from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), who sponsored the Incoming Buying Mission (buyers-sellers meet) that ran alongside the fair. During this event, 345 meetings took place between 35 buyers from 14 countries and regions and more than 60 Malaysian companies.

The show itself also received positive feedback from participants. “In this prudent spending environment, it is even more vital to participate in good exhibitions to find new markets and opportunities,” said Lau Keng Chong, marketing manager of Amerseal Industrial. “At this show, we’ve met many quality local and overseas buyers and I am delighted that we’ve received very encouraging orders. I would say this year’s event has been a tremendous success for us.”

“It is an excellent platform to show our best equipment to our existing customers and new buyers and to gain brand recognition,” said Unipac Engineering Malaysia CEO David C. K. Yap. “Amidst the tough economic period, we can stand out from other competitors by participating in exhibitions.”

Scott Leimroth, from Australian based company DPChip, noted that the trade fair has been excellent in achieving brand recognition and further market exposure in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region. “I’ve met buyers from India, Pakistan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore,” he said. “Industry players should exhibit at Automechanika Malaysia if they want to gain exposure in the Asian regions.”

Automechanika Malaysia is one of 13 global Automechanika fairs. The next show will be held in March 2011. (Tyres & Accessories/Staffordshire, U.K.)
