Nokian Scores Wins in German Mag Summer Tire Tests

Nokian reports its Z G2 and Hakka C Cargo tires earned top rankings in 2012 summer tire tests by seven German car magazines, which touted the tires' wet and dry braking and fuel economy.

Nokian reports its Z G2 and Hakka C Cargo tires earned top rankings in 2012 summer tire tests by German car magazines “Auto Bild,” “Auto Zeitung,” “auto Test,” “gute Fahrt,” “Auto Bild allrad,” “pro mobil,” and “Firmenauto Transporter.”

The tiremaker said the top ratings of “Auto Bild exemplary,” “Auto Zeitung test winner,” “auto Test test winner,” “gute Fahrt recommendation,” and “Auto Bild allrad exemplary” show the “outstanding qualities” of its summer tires. Detailed results are as follows:

Auto Bild and auto Test reported the Nokian Z G2 is a “convincing all-rounder with the shortest braking distances on wet and dry surfaces, good steering precision, stable directional control, and low fuel consumption…The Nokian Z G2 has the best grip and guarantees maximum safety.”

In its overall evaluation, Auto Zeitung said the Nokian H “not only passes with flying colors on wet surfaces, but is also utterly convincing on dry surfaces and in the rolling resistance test.” In its wet test, the magazines said the tire was “Quickest in handling, top in terms of driving safety and very strong in braking.”

gute Fahrt reported the Nokian Z G2 scored top marks for braking on wet surfaces and rolling resistance.

Auto Bild allrad rated the Z G2 positively, reporting it offers “outstanding performance on wet roads, also very good on dry roads, very quiet.”

The auto motor sport verdict stated, “Outstanding braking performance on wet surfaces, lowest rolling resistance in the test, good comfort and low road noise levels.”

The verdict from Firmenauto reads the same: “The Nokian has the shortest stopping distance on wet roads and the lowest price of all the car tires tested, while other premium tires are 22% more expensive.”

pro mobil said the Nokian Hakka C Cargo is “very good and harmonious on both wet and dry surfaces: high safety margin in aquaplaning, balanced equilibrium…low rolling resistance.” Firmenauto Transporter also ranked the Nokian Hakka C Cargo as the winner in tests.

According to the tiremaker, “The tests prove that Nokian tires offer a very high degree of safety and save fuel. The shortest braking distance on both wet and dry surfaces can save lives and prevent high accident costs. Stopping on time is especially important on wet road surfaces, where braking distances are much longer than on dry roads.

“Nokian tyres only consume small amounts of fuel because they have a low rolling resistance. That is especially appealing during the more pleasant times of the year when you drive more and fuel is very expensive. But you shouldn’t trade savings in fuel for reduced safety.”

The Nokian Z G2 was designed for high-speed, high-performance cars and sports cars and is available in 34 W- and Y-speed rated sizes ranging from 16- to 20-inch rim diameters. For SUVs, the tires is available in 16 V-, W- and Y-rated sizes from 17- to 22-inch rim diameters.
