Now available are the Continental HSR2 (Heavy Steer Regional) and the Continental HTL1, a super wide trailer tire.
The HSR2 replaces the HSR, and features a four-rib tread design for stability, an extended wear tread compound, stone ejectors, a cut/scuff resistant sidewall, 23/32-inch tread depth, and the tiremaker’s VAI+ indicator system.
VAI+, according to Continental, extends the Continental Visual Alignment Indicator system with the addition of a plus (+) mark to help represent “the useful remaining tread depth as the tire wears, allowing the driver constant visual representation on the tread surface.”
Continental said “at 8/32 inches of tread depth, these indicators change from (+) to (-), alerting the driver that it is time to consider tire removal or movement to the trailer axle. The (-) indicator remains visible until 4/32 inches, and when it completely disappears, this signifies the approach to the lowest depth limit allowed by law.”
Designed for weight savings and fuel efficiency, the HTL1 super wide trailer radial features a six-rib design, decoupler ribs for shoulder wear resistance, sidewall scuff ribs, stone ejectors, reduced rolling resistance, a 13/32-inch tread depth, and weight savings over traditional duals. Continental said that when paired with aluminum wheels, the HTL1 can result in weight savings up to 1,022 pounds. (Tire Review/Akron)
