The firm leased a new 101,000-square-foot building at 603 Northpark Central Drive near Interstate 45 North and Beltway 8 from ProLogis. It is relocating from 4545 Mossford to a space that will accommodate its new process for retreading tires and serve as a distribution center.
“We’re really excited about our new partnership with Michelin Retread Technologies,” said Tim Puck, director of manufacturing. The company is closing eight Bandag facilities, including one in Houston, and will reopen five plants in the U.S. using the Michelin technology.
Snider Tire helps commercial fleet customers reduce tire costs by retreading. The process involves applying new rubber over existing casings to extend the life of the tire. The customer gets the same tire back after it is refurbished, rather than buying a random retread out of a warehouse. Among its customers are Silver Eagle Distributors, UPS, Waste Management, AAA Cooper, Cemex, Coca-Cola, Pike Electric and Ryder.
The location will also be a commercial truck tire center, which offers new and used tires, retreads, powder coat wheel paint, and 24-hour fleet service. The retread shop serves customers in Texas and other parts of the southeast U.S. Opening is targeted by August.
With 34 commercial locations, Snider Tire carries most major tire brands such as Michelin, Yokohama, Goodyear, BFGoodrich, Kelly and Cooper. The company is based in Greensboro, N.C. (Tire Review/Akron)
