Michelin North America said engineered its new Michelin CerexBib radial is the industry’s first combine-specific radial “engineered specifically to deliver high-flexion capabilities while handling the cyclic loading and off-loading required from combines.”
Launched in seven sizes at the recent National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, the CereBib features the tiremaker’s Ultraflex technologies that help reduce soil compaction.
“Michelin designs tires with the end user’s specific application in mind,” said Michael Vandel, marketing segment manager for MNA agricultural tires. “We heard from farmers that they needed a tire that delivers improved handling and traction for large harvesting loads with minimal soil compaction. The CerexBib was designed with these operational needs in mind.”
MNA said the CerexBib can be purchased by the axle. The front axle tires are designated as IF cyclic field operation (CFO) and fit on the same wheels “but deliver a bigger footprint and carry the same load at air pressures of up to 20% less than normal tires.”
The rear axle sizes are designated as VF tires, MNA said. “Together, they bear up under the weight of increasingly large combines with 400- and 450-bushel bins, 16-row headers and front-axle weights of 50,000 pounds and still help reduce soil compaction over traditional radials,” the company claimed.
The CerexBib is available in front sizes IF680/85R32 CFO 179A8, IF800/70R32 CFO 182A8, IF800/70R32 CFO 182A8, IF800/65R32 CFO 178A8, IF800/70R38 CFO 184A8, and IF900/60R38 CFO 184A8; and rear sizes VF520/80R26 165A8 and VF620/70R26 170A8.
