Whoever LETA – the recently formed industry association representing European tire traders – is taking to court, it isn’t Goodyear Dunlop.
Following the news that the group of unnamed tire traders joined forces to take up court proceedings against unnamed tire manufacturers to, in their view, protect the free trade rights and the “honor” of likeminded companies, Goodyear Dunlop has confirmed that it is not involved in legal action with LETA.
Goodyear Dunlop’s legal department responded to inquiries by saying: “Like many other companies, Goodyear Dunlop protects its trademarks and intellectual property against unauthorized use, including, in Goodyear Dunlop’s case, the unauthorized or unlawful importation of trademark protected tires into the EU from abroad.”
Furthermore, the tiremaker made it clear that it does not want to be associated with the kind of activity that LETA appears to be condemning: “Goodyear Dunlop does not endorse any activity which restricts the free movement of goods within the EU.” (Tyres & Accessories)
