The new Mazda MX5 Cup started on Apr. 24 at Snetterton and continues at Rockingham, Brands Hatch and Croft during the season, with a winter championship to take place at Donnington and Brands Hatch in October and November and Taiwanese manufacturer Federal has announced that it will supply its 595 RS-R sport competition line as the official tire of the new series throughout the year.
Taken directly from successful Championships in America, Japan, Italy, and Belgium, Mazda Racing is described by Federal as “a proven race formula and has a considerable interest in the U.K. from its full launch in December 2009.” Mazda Racing is operated by drivers to provide what the tire supplier describes as “a safe, positive environment for learning, progression and competition at the national level.”
All competitors are required to possess at least an MSA “National B” Advanced Racing Driver Schools license and to become a member of the British Race and Sports Car Club to race in the series. (Tyres & Accessories)
