Goodyear’s Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec ultra-high performance tire was rated tops in a recent test by Sports Car magazine.
The UHP tire topped seven competitors in the test, which was conducted by the magazine editors and unveiled in Sports Car’s October 2009 issue.
The tested tires, including entries from Bridgestone, Hankook, Kumho, Nitto, Toyo and Yokohama, were size 265/35R18, mounted on 18×9 wheels and tested on a 2005 Mazda RX-8. Track testing occurred at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, Calif., and was set up to represent the conditions found at a Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) National ProSolo event.
In the end, the magazine reported: “When the dust had settled, the Bridgestone closed with a 46.2, just a tenth shy of Dunlop for the day crowning Dunlop our Ultimate Street Fighter.”
The latest tire test win in Sports Car follows other 2009 Dunlop test wins in Car & Driver, European Car and Tire Rack.
