British tiremaker Dunlop Aircraft Tyres has announced Mocksville, N.C. as the preferred base for its first U.S. retread facility, according to Tyres & Accessories.
The tiremaker said it evaluated a number of potential sites, and subject to state funding, it plans to establish its operations in Mocksville.
“We have been encouraged by the positive response to our plans by the local community. The site offers good transport links and we are confident that we can find an excellent work force within the Mocksville and Davie County region,” Ian Edmondson, Dunlop Aircraft Tyres chairman, told Tyres & Accessories.
Dunlop decided to locate operations in the U.S. to help boost competitiveness across the Americas, it said.
The tiremaker still plans to produce new aircraft tires in its Birmingham, UK plant.
