Double Camel and Lionshead Recall More Than 1,000 Tubeless Trailer Tires

Qingdao Xiyingmen Double Camel Tyre Co. and its U.S. agent, Goshen, Ind.-based Lionshead Specialty Tire & Wheel are recalling 1,440 Vail Sport ST LH 99 tubeless trailer tires.
The recalled tires are size 225/75D15, load range D, DOT Code 69, and were manufactured by Double Camel at its Qingdao, China, facility between July 14 and July 27, 2013, Double Camel told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
After two tires from that lot failed NHTSA testing, Double Camel decided to recall the tires. One tire failed the endurance test and the other failed the plunger test, the company said.
Based on those tests, Double Camel concluded that batch of tires may fail and become unseated from the rim under prolonged use.
Lionshead plans to notify owners and dealers, and will replace the tires with compliant ones. Double Camel customers may call Lionshead at 574-533-6169.
