The U.S. tire industry’s reaction to the devastating earthquakes in Haiti continues.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has pledged up to $25,000 to support relief and recovery efforts in Haiti. Cooper will match employee donations up to $25,000.
"We are saddened by this tragedy, one of the worst natural disasters of our lifetime, and genuinely concerned for the health and safety of the people of Haiti,” said Roy Armes, chairman, president and CEO. “In an effort to provide much needed assistance, the company, on behalf of its employees around the world, will join in the united effort to save lives and rebuild this demolished country."
Tire Group International held a 10-day Haiti Food & Relief Drive, raising some $260,000 in cash and goods. The drive was capped by a charity Paella Dinner attended by more than 150 guests on Jan. 22.
“We as a company are proud of the commitment from our employees and partners to make this drive a success. TGI will continue to be committed to our friends in Haiti and assist them in their relief and rebuilding efforts,” said Antonio Gonzalez, TGI’s CEO.
