The tires were produced between Dec. 2, 2007 and Feb. 9 under the Cooper, Discoverer ATR, Dean Wildcat Radial A/T, Mastercraft Courser A/T 2 and Mentor All-Terrain Radial SXT, in sizes LT265/75T16 and LT235/85R16.
According to NHTSA’s recall summary, the tires “fail to conform to the requirements of FMVSS 139,” and “a bulge can occur in the lower sidewall on the white sidewall side which indicates the existence of a separation between two lower sidewall components.”
The recall of the 48,035 tires began Mar. 14, but Cooper made no formal announcement. Dealers and Cooper tire owners can contact Cooper customer relations at 800-854-6288. (Tire Review/Akron)
