Continental AG is on the hunt for a new, larger headquarters as it has outgrown its current location in Hannover, Germany, Tyres & Accessories reports.
According to T&A, the city has made Continental an offer to keep the tiremaker in Hannover, while surrounding towns also bid to host the facility.
The town of Garbsen, about 10 miles northwest of Hannover, is hoping to become the location of the new Conti headquarters, local media reports. The town of 60,000 inhabitants offers access to motorways, main roads and the Hannover airport, is only few miles away from Conti’s Stöcken tire plant, will be home to Leibniz University’s new engineering campus in 2018, and offers greenfield sites and lower business taxes than Hannover, T&A said.
The new Continental headquarters is expected to open in 2021, the year of Conti’s 150th anniversary, and will have the capacity to house 1,250 employees.
