Continental Tire the Americas is recalling potentially 5,993 ProContact GX SSR MOE affected tires because they may have been deformed during the curing process.
The affected tires are size 225/45R18 95H XL, and were manufactured from June 22-28, 2014. The tires were used for front axle fitment on 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles.
According to the NHTSA, a tire that was deformed during the curing process may suddenly fail during use, increasing the risk of a crash. It could also cause the tire tread to appear distorted when inflated.
Continental has notified owners, and tire dealers or Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. The recall began on Oct. 30. Owners may contact CTA customer service at 1-888-799-2168.
