Colorado Tech Wins TBC Tire Rodeo

Killian Hamilton, a tire tech with Big O Tires in Aurora, Colo., ran away with the top prize in the TBC Retail Group’s annual Tire Rodeo.

Hamilton completely changed and properly balanced one tire in 2:11, besting Justin Poulos, a tech with NTB in Austin, Texas, in the finals. Poulos, who beat Hamilton in the semi-finals, posted a time of 2:31 in the final round.

The Tire Rodeo was held as part of the 2009 TBC Retail Group Business Conference, held last week in Orlando, Fla. The three-day meeting brought together 1,600 Tire Kingdon, Merchant’s and NTB store managers as well as 487 Big O Tires franchisees.

Hamilton received a top prize of $1,000, while Polous walked away with $800 for his efforts.

Finishing third was Michael Shreffler of Big O Tires in Redding, Calif., fourth was Phil Huff of Tire Kingdom in Columbia, S.C., fifth went to David Beaver of Merchant’s of Cary, N.C., sixth place went to Jesus Pedina of Tire Kingdom in Winter Park, Fla., seventh place went to Jesse Loeffelman of NTD in St. Peters, Mo., and eigth place went to Emery Phillips of Merchant’s in Woodbridge, Va.
