Coats Changer Line Gets Customized

Hennessy Industries’ Coats brand is relaunching its flagship line of rim clamp tire changers as part of a realignment of its tire changer lines.

As part of the effort is the “launch” of the X-Model tire changer line, which Coats said “represents a realignment of existing Coats lines, combining features and upgrades from the 5000 and 7000 models that will allow customers to tailor tire changers to meet their shops’ needs.”

“The X-Model is not a new product launch, but a realignment of Coats tire changer products to better fit our customers’ needs,” said Kevin Keefe, Hennessy Industries’ vice president of marketing. “We’ve adapted many of the recent upgrades and value-added improvements from our 7000 series models to the 5000 series models, and we’ve decoupled storage and accessories across the line to give our customers more options with regard to features and prices.”

The new line will offer three 5000 series and three 7000 series models, and customers will be able to customize the models with accessories and add-ons. The new line also adds several price points that will allow customers to pay only for the features and capabilities their shops need in a tire changer, Coats said.

“Customers can expect the same durability and value they’ve always had with Coats tire changers, but now they will be able to pick and choose the features that they feel are important for their shops,” said Keefe.

TPMS hasn’t changed much since it was mandated in 2007, but Bluetooth sensors could be a welcome update for drivers and shops.

TPMS technology hasn’t changed much over the years. You might think, “But that’s a good thing, right? Don’t we want a consistent technology that can be fixed easily?” You may be on to something there, but TPMS technology currently relies on radio waves to transmit data. That means the radio spectrum the sensors use can be “noisy” with other nearby devices potentially causing interference with the sensor. It’s like someone interrupting you mid-sentence. Bluetooth sensors may be the answer to these radio-wave issues.
