Now that the bidding process for Giti Tire (USA) Inc.’s Chester County, S.C., tire plant has resumed, Giti officials are reviewing five bids, ranging from $7.9 million to $19.8 million, for initial site work on the company’s new Chester County, S.C., plant, according to The Herald.
In early December, bids for the Giti plant project were in limbo when a construction company filed a lawsuit claiming it was unfairly excluded from the bidding process. The bidding process for the tire plant resumed in late December following a ruling by the state Court of Appeals.
After reviewing the qualifications of potential bidders for the project, Chester County pre-qualified five firms’ bids. According to The Herald, Giti officials will review the bids and announce a decision by Jan. 14.
The Singapore-based tiremaker will build a $560 million radial passenger and light truck/SUV plant on the site. Giti anticipates an official groundbreaking in mid-February, but site work could begin in January.
