Bridgestone Europe OE key account manager Stephan Rambow accepted the award in the presence of 300 guests at a ceremony held by the automaker in Weissach, Germany on April 3.
Three categories of business partner are eligible for a Porsche Supplier Award – production material, non-production material and logistics – and awards are given in recognition for achievements in sales, engineering and quality. Bridgestone was the only tyre manufacturer amongst the eight production material suppliers nominated for an award from the Stuttgart based sports car manufacturer.
“The Porsche success story could not be imagined without efficient and reliable suppliers,” commented Wendelin Wiedeking, chairman of the Porsche AG Executive Board at the ceremony. "The best of them are the yardstick for all the others.”
“This is a great achievement for Bridgestone,” said Rambow, “and it is due to the efforts of our whole cross-functional team. The key drivers for this award were superior quality product supply with zero defects, our flexible sales approach and a stable logistical supply service.”
Bridgestone has been supplying tyres to Porsche since 1983 and equipped the limited edition Porsche 959 with run flat tyres back in 1986. Current approved fitments cover all Porsche car lines and include Bridgestone Potenza RE050A for the Porsche 911 and Boxster models, as well as HP Dueler for the Cayenne Facelift.
