Tires from an ATD warehouse in Fort Myers, Fla., were stolen sometime between Sunday, Sept. 7 and Monday, Sept. 8. The total worth of the tires is estimated at $75,000. Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports that the burglary could be related to a previous theft of two box trucks down the road.
The manager of the warehouse reported the theft, saying that there was damage to a wall inside the store and a missing bolted-down safe and tires, according to sheriff’s reports.
The report said that thieves entered the business through a vent that had been hidden by forklift pallets. Steel bars on the vent had been cut and pried open, aluminum slats bent away and metal caging forced open.
A company forklift was used to move the tires to a loading dock, according to reports.
The manager told News-Press that enough tires to fill at least two 25-foot box trucks were missing. He estimated the cost of the missing tires at $75,000.
