American Tire Distributors is closing the Alliance, Ohio, operations of Terry’s Tire Town. This closure includes one distribution center as well as Terry’s headquarters.
The announcement comes just weeks after the deal between ATD and Terry’s closed.
ATD operates several distributions centers within Ohio, including one in Canton, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus. The distributor also has operations near the state’s boarders in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Poca, W.Va.
“These six distribution centers will service the same geographic area as the one Terry’s distribution center in Alliance. With six centers (versus one) and a broader and deeper product offering, we feel confident the service to our customers will increase,” wrote Ron Sinclair, senior vice president of marketing for ATD, in an email.
ATD has offered many of employees of the Alliance distribution center and headquarters positions at other distribution centers or in the North Carolina support center, Sinclair said.
The Alliance distribution center will continue operations through mid-June, before consolidation of the operation into one of the six previously mentioned distribution centers, Sinclair noted.
Many of the roles currently at Terry’s headquarters in Alliance will transition to ATD’s field support center in North Carolina between now and the end of the year.
