This month, Inc. magazine named Huntersville, N.C.-based American Tire Distributors Inc. to its 2009 list of the 5,000fastest-growing U.S. private companies.
The company was ranked No. 13on the list by revenues, and No. 25 on the list in terms of grossdollars of growth. ATD’s Revenue increased 30.3% from $1.5 billion in2005 to $2 billion in 2008, the period Inc. analyzed.
“It’s agreat honor to be included in the Inc. 5000 ranking and a tribute toour 2,200 employees nationwide who have worked so hard to make ATD aneffective partner to the thousands of locally owned tire dealers we areproud to call our customers,” said Bill Berry, ATD’s CEO. “We succeed when our dealerssucceed, and that’s why we’re working harder than ever to ensure ATDhas the products and programs our customers need.”
ATD currently supplies roughly 10% of all replacement tires sold in the United States.
With acquisitions, new leadership and construction, it’s been a busy 12 months for ATD.
Last December, ATD completed a $75 million purchase of Am-Pac Tire Distribution, which added important new markets such as western Texas and St. Louis to its footprint. In April, ATD named Berry, who came to the company with the purchase of ITCO Tire Co. in 1998, as its new CEO. On top of that, a headquarters expansion that will grow ATD’s office by 25,000 square feet is nearly complete.
