Cooper Funding New Track for Findlay High

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is getting a head start on celebrating its 100th anniversary by committing to funding a new, state-of-the-art track and field complex at its hometown Findlay High School.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is getting a head start on celebrating its 100th anniversary by committing to funding a new, state-of-the-art track and field complex at its hometown Findlay High School.

The planned multipurpose facility “will benefit thousands of students and athletes each year, while also establishing a monument to Cooper Tire’s legacy and commitment to education, leadership development, and community involvement and support,” the company said.

"We are excited to sponsor a new track and field for Findlay High School in honor of our upcoming centennial celebration," said Roy Armes, Cooper chairman, president and CEO. "This is an investment in our youth and potential young leaders of tomorrow, including many children of Cooper employees and our Findlay neighbors, and fits with our long tradition of supporting and advocating education and developmental opportunities for students of all ages. I can’t think of a better way to honor the generations of Cooper employees who’ve given to Cooper and their communities than an investment in the generations to come."

The new complex will have a nine-lane track and multi-use competitive field that will be used for both school activities and will be available to local residents. The new complex should be completed by October.

Cooper said the existing cinder track and field area behind Findlay High School will be replaced with a track surface made from recycled rubber material, providing a durable, environmentally-friendly, and low maintenance surface.

Cooper will be celebrating its centennial in 2014.
