Linglong Tops ‘Familiar’ Brands in Test

Linglong tires have been described as the "dark horse" of tire testing after finishing fourth in a study conducted by Finnish firm Test World Oy. Linglong's tires surprised test drivers at Test World in Finland.

The firm’s tires reportedly left the experience test drivers of with a good impression “especially in aspects of driving behavior on wet roads.” According to a news item on Linglong’s website, Test World’s 2011 summer tire test examined more than 12 brands, including tires from Goodyear, Continental and Bridgestone. Linglong entered its Green-Max product into the test.

Test World’s results reportedly showed that Linglong was “calm to drive and offered a good lateral grip and easy controllability in handling and evasion test.”

Overall Linglong got 7.6 total, ranking fourth out of all the tested brands after Continental, Goodyear and Pirelli. And this all led to the testers writing: "Linglong was a surprise, being clearly the best Chinese tire ever in our tire tests. Linglong beat a bunch of familiar more expensive brands."

China Automotive Information Net wrote: “[Linglong’s tire] was not particularly prominent in each test and its braking traction on wetlands needs to be further improved, but it performed well in the other tests. Linglong provided decent horizontal traction and mild response during driving.”

According to Linglong, the test and result calculation concentrated on safety. Most weight was given to tire performance and handling on wet asphalt. In addition other tested characteristics included driving behavior, rolling resistance, braking, aquaplaning, avoidance, noise and comfort.

Test World is an independent business specializing in testing tires and cars. It provides tailored testing for tire and automotive manufactures, authorities and motoring magazines. (Tyres & Accessories)
